My parents (JW's, dad elder) love to complain about every president. They whine about social security but live in a beautiful home and go on at least 2 trips a year. Complain about cash for clunkers but have 2 brand new cars. How is that neutral? Then when you offer up some sort of solution or political viewpoint they immediately start with "It doesn't matter what we think this system is going down, they are all Satan's pawns". Non neural and lazy thinking at it's best.

JW Opinions on Obama
by feenx ini haven't been on here much, including during the recent election.
i am curious if anyone knows what the opinions, official as well as non-official or "gossip" *gasp*, on the election and obama.
i remember as a kid my mother would always complain so much around election time, just like xmas, because she hated it so much.

We really didn't plan it at all, just couldn't stand it one more minute. I couldn't have listened to all the sickening sweet "Oh we missed you Thursday". We just riped it off like an old band aid. Yes there were many phone calls (leave the machine on). There were visits (keep the drapes shut), you can predict when they will come. After about 6 months it all stopped, not even an invitation to the memorial. It might not work for everyone and they may push it one day when some CO comes around shedding new light on the topic. It is awkward when we see JW at the mall or a restaurant but it would have been anyway. NMKA

On Looking For Work In This Economy
by Tired of the Hypocrisy inwow, i have had my degree for just over a year now.
i have been working closely with a career counselor for the past 6 months and have submitted lots of applications and resumes to dozens and dozens of companies for a long list of potential positions i would like to have.
i worked hard as an almost 50 fading jw to get my college education and since i can no longer climb poles in windy-sub-zero-weather to fix people's cable i locked myself into network administration.

I am so sorry to hear this and hope that eventually the right thing shows up. The same happened with my teenage son trying to just find a fast food or labor job, almost impossible. He finally found something, but it's alot of short days and ridiculous split shifts. I am supposedly in the best profession for right now, nursing. However, they run you like a dog, cutting staff, I wonder how long my body can take it. Have you tried looking out of state or is it pretty much the same everywhere?

What little cuties, I have a few myself. They can now make friends, take cupcakes on their birthday, go to football games and go to the dance. Happy back to school! I see why you are proud Grandma.

Did You Ever Tell Someone They Smelled?
by minimus ini was "assigned" by the body of elders to talk to a pioneer/ministerial servant about his b o. he didn't have a car and so was always put in someone's car group.
everyone complained about having to take him.. when i talked to him about his stink, he got very very offended and copped an attitude.
i finally told him that unless he started bathing and washing his disgusting oily hair, he would be removed from his assignments.....what i never understood is how anybody could be told that they actually smelled and yet get pissed off with me!.

Yes, I have had to address this with patients before, like 'do you use deodorant?" "When is the last time you took a bath or shower?". When I was working with a indigent mentally ill population one of the first things I would do was get them all set up for a shower, nice towel, soap, shampoo and fresh clean clothes. Then coax them to the shower. I addition to these tangible items, I would offer coaching form the other side of the door "wash them pits!" "Scour those feet". "Scrub your backside, now!" Much to my surprise, one day I had a star pupil, he was following all my instructions. I could hardly wait to see him as he emerged. He had followed all of my direction, the pits, bottom and feet were all dripping wet and suds up, however I neglected to tell him to remove his clothing first! This is not an easy topic to broach. Keep the instructions simple (and don't leave out any of the steps).

I have not had one but have assisted. What are your biopsy results? Seems like your airway is spasming which can be really scary. There isn't any obvious reason for your symptoms, I hope it lets up for you soon and you get a good report.

Homer, sorry I just got home (from responsibly taking care of folks on propofol). It looks like you answered your own question, it makes the doc look even worse doesn't it? Obviously you should always be ready to to intubate when propofol is given. NMKA

I can't understand the actions of this physician for the life of me. I administer these drugs with a crash cart 18 inches away and a drawer full of reversal agents. The patient is constantly monitored and it is my only job to watch the monitor and the patient. There is nothing that could make me deviate from my protocols and routines. Doctors and nurses are not robots and mistakes will happen but this guy should never ever practice medicine again.

Why don't you show these pictures to those two British ladies on the BBC and see if they will come and help you. You really just need to do one room a weekend and make sure you keep it up in between. In a few weeks you will be done. Remember you have to organize and then clean. Most stuff comes clean with soaking and then elbow grease. Invest in a carpet scrubber (under $100.00 at Walmart). Can you tell this is one of my favorite topics! I don't think you are a total pig, you're just a guy. Good luck! NMKA

JW's Value Position & Appearances over Displaying God's Qualities
by flipper inbefore some of the long time members here say to me " tell us something we don't know flipper " - please hear me out on this one.
some of the newly exiting jw's may not know this info - but need to be made aware of it.. as a young man i was raised in the cult jehovah's witnesses and remained from birth until age 44 .
i was never, ever asked by my elder father in all those years the question, " son, how is your relationship with jehovah doing ?

Flipper, again a great topic. I think the begininnig of the end for us was when my husband was asked to be an elder. When he said he wanted to raise his family, help people in the capacity he was in, they looked at him like he was nuts. One of the elders was his brother, all he held dear was being an elder. When that wasn't the all important to him (my husband) the others didn't get it. Christain qualities and JW "reaching out" have nothing to do with eachother.
